MEET LAURIE MOORE...
Early Years
Laurie's journey as a floral designer traces back to her upbringing in the picturesque surroundings of Stanislaus County, where she discovered her passion for flowers amidst the orchards of her family's estate. From a tender age, she found joy in gathering blooms to create whimsical bouquets, driven by the happiness they brought to her grandmother and mother. This early fascination with floral artistry spurred her to delve deeper into the world of blooms, eventually leading her to cultivate her own garden of unique flowers.
OUR FARM
As Laurie grew older, she began to grow flowers to use in her arrangements. “I saw flowers in gardens, yards, or nature that inspired me. I grow flowers that are not available at cut flower wholesale shops. Everyone has a flower that reminds them of something or instantly brings joy. By growing my own flowers, I have a larger pallet to draw from that brings greater depth and personal enjoyment to people who receive one of my bouquets.” Laurie has learned that flowers are in many of the biggest moments of our lives. “A new baby, a grieving family all are surrounded in flowers. Every bride past or present speaks of their wedding flowers. A bouquet of your grandmother’s favorite flowers instantly takes you back to her arms.”
Education and Experience
Laurie's journey in floral design began with her education at Brigham Young University, followed by hands-on experience in a retail flower shop, crafting custom arrangements for clients' homes. Her talent quickly gained recognition, leading to opportunities designing for various events, including weddings, churches, and concerts. Known for her attentiveness to clients' preferences, Laurie's designs are personal and tailored to each occasion. Her growing reputation in the industry recently landed her a prestigious invitation to decorate the First Ladies Luncheon in Washington D.C., where she created stunning floral arrangements, including an American flag made entirely from locally sourced flowers, a highlight being the arch under which the First Lady welcomed guests.
Family and Advice
Of course, Laurie’s greatest creations are the 5 beautiful children she and her husband, Eric, are raising. They live in a beautiful country home with their horses, chickens, and other animals. Like raising children, growing flowers hasn’t been without challenges. “Numerous times I’ve lost flowers to pests, weather, a broken water source, and of course the constant, overwhelming threat of weeds. Every year I have lost an entire crop to either weather or gophers. I have lost many seedlings to the neighbor’s chickens or my own geese, kids, or pets trampling down new plants. The secret, like with anything, is don’t give up. Even slow learning is still learning.”
